𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔 ⎏ 𝑵𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒚 is a transient and collaborative project focusing on open-endedness, performativity and the entanglement of agencies during the art creation process. With our project, we intend to explore and subvert the current dilemma of tokenisation and territorialisation of artists’ identities and their artworks by the established industry through presenting divergent art practices that are unpredictable, multidisciplinary, and collaborative. Featuring artists working across light, time-based installation, sculptural live performance, moving image and other mediums, the project focused on how an open-ended network of agencies and fluidity could be mobilised and in production of new subjectivities.
In the project, different forms of agencies coalesce, diverge, integrate, evolve and coexist. The distinct research and practices of the artists from emerging, under-represented, and diasporic cultural backgrounds converge at the nexus of a continual fluid, contingent, exchanging and connective process. Questioning the current predispositions of prevailing art languages in contemporary art, the artists employ strategies of intensification and dissonance of the minor form and assemblage thinking, subverting the models of established formations. The artistic practices presented dissect an entanglement with the major structures, a networked, open-ended relation of sorts, opening up to different uncertainties and possibilities outside the force field of conventional logistics and structures. Featuring artists working across light, time-based installation, sculptural live performance, moving image and other mediums, their practices collectively explore unpredictability, multiplicity-in-oneness and ambiguity as approaches and interrogate the methodologies informed implicitly or explicitly by more established paradigms and perspectives.
